Honest leaders

Our world needs a common market and an honest means of existence for all mankind. No child must go hungry.

To have an honest world, everyone must share the responsibility. The rich, the oil group, the farmers and all the businesses need to pay taxes.

Anyone should know we need the death penalty. This world should exist without cults or clans that take from others.

Maybe we should lock up all the world leaders and generals until they can agree to work for the good of the Earth and mankind. Who besides God must we turn to?

When we see families and homes bombed and people on the run and world leaders can’t fix the problem, then they, the lawmakers, are the problem.

Big-box mistake

Hello, Overland Park planners. Why would you approve a big-box store on the east side of Metcalf Avenue at 95th Street selling the same stuff as the big-box store on the west side (7-12, A11, “Redevelopment plan for Metcalf South advances”)?

Seriously, can’t you see the forest?

I can predict the future. Lowe’s and Home Depot will be combined, and you will have another big empty store at 95th Street and Metcalf Avenue.

Fox TV tangle

Dish Network customers have been without Fox channels for weeks. After reading the arguments of both sides, I see Fox as being the unreasonable party in this dispute over cost.

Dish has offered numerous ways to settle, even arbitration. This seems a blatant attempt by Fox to drive up fees ultimately dumped on the consumer.

Consumers are certainly tempted to switch providers, but this may not be the answer because all providers have to deal with contract disputes. Who knows who will next be held hostage to corporate greed?

I for one am sick of not being able to watch some Kansas City Royals games and the All-Star Game last week where I choose. Yes, I can stream the games. Yes, I’ve heard of the antenna (a poor option but an option).

And, if I were an advertiser on Fox, I would be screaming my head off to them every day. Tens of thousands of Dish customers are not seeing companies’ ads and are not going to stores for companies’ sales.

Come on, Fox. You can do more.

Combat terrorism

After the attack in Nice, France, it’s time for world leaders to man up to the Islamic State terrorists.

Share all your intelligence data and begin smart bombing every town, village or rabbit hole where these deranged militants are known to exist.

Continue until we no longer find them walking the earth anywhere.

Enhancing life

The choices we make in life make a big difference in living a good, long life. Here are some thoughts to help:

▪ You have a good mind. Use it wisely.

▪ Obesity doesn’t encourage longevity. Start and maintain a healthy diet.

▪ Exercising can be a joy, and all advice is to exercise every day. Because of my advanced age (96 years), my exercise is walking as much as is possible. To encourage my walking, I have formed a “Twila walk” to keep my late wife, Twila, in mind.

▪ Our personal habits are so important. Negatives are found in drinking and smoking. My twin sister lost her life because of overindulgence.

▪ Don’t allow your friendships to lead you astray. Know when to say “no thank you,” and you will be praised.

▪ After the noon meal, I excuse myself so I can take my daily nap. To rest every day is a must, and this doesn’t harm my night’s sleeping. A time for rest every day can be productive and a joy.

A good mental condition can provide a happy and joyful life. A strength in my life is found in a happy and exciting spiritual life. For me, this is important, pleasing and exciting.

Encourage positive relationships and recognize the joy they bring.
