Trump administration reportedly bans use of ‘fetus,’ ‘evidence-based,’ other phrases at CDC

President Donald Trump’s administration has instructed officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to refrain from using “fetus” and six other words and phrases in official budget documents, according to a report in the Washington Post.

The list of words that officials at the federal public health institute, which oversees the nation’s efforts to control the spread of infectious diseases, are no longer allowed to use includes the phrases “science-based” and “evidence-based,” according to the Post.

The newspaper quoted an anonymous source saying that scientists and other officials at the agency have been told to instead say that the “CDC bases its recommendations on science in consideration with community standards and wishes.”

Other words on the forbidden list include “vulnerable,” “entitlement,” “diversity,” and “transgender,” according to the Post, which noted that the CDC’s parent agency, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, removed information about LGBT Americans from its website earlier this year.

The CDC did not immediately comment Saturday when contacted about by The Star.
