Kansas City’s minor home repair program again taking applications

Kansas City municipal government is accepting applications from city residents for its 2017 minor home repair program. Funding assists needy residents with vital home renovations.

The money comes from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s grant program, and applicants must meet HUD income guidelines.

The service is offered to single-family homeowners within the city limits of Kansas City who have not received home repair services from the city in the past five years. It is not available for rental property, mobile homes, duplexes or multi-family dwellings.

The assistance covers a variety of plumbing, electrical, roofing and mobility-related issues, including water and sewer mains and new roof installation.

People can get more information and find a link to an application at http://kcmo.gov/neighborhoods/city-taking-applications-for-2017-home-repair-program/.

Applications are also available during daytime weekday hours from the Neighborhoods and Housing Services Department, located on the fourth floor of City Hall, 414 E. 12th Street.

Applications are accepted until the funds are all allocated.
