Six things about Prince you forgot or never knew

Prince, a musician whose prolific albums spanned generations and genres, died at the age of 57, his publicist confirmed Thursday afternoon. Here are six facts about the musician you’ve probably forgotten or never knew:

• Prince's only child, Boy Gregory, had Pfeiffer syndrome, causing a defect in his skull, and died a week after his birth in 1996.
• Prince was a vegan and wore fake wool on the cover of his 1999 album "Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic.” To explain, he included liner notes about animal cruelty involved in producing real wool, according to PETA.
• The musician also identified as a Jehovah's Witness later in life, though he was born Seventh-Day Adventist.
• Prince said he played all 27 instruments for his first album "For You," though his performances on stage mainly included guitar, piano, drums, bass and his own voice.
• Prince was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame the first year he was eligible for the honor, in 2004.
• Prince was known worldwide but kept his hometown Minneapolis close. His music helped shape a blend of rock, pop and punk that became known as Minneapolis sound.
