Former Kansas state Sen. Jean Schodorf plans to kick off her campaign for the Democratic nomination for secretary of state on Wednesday in Wichita.
Jean Schodorf served in the Senate as a Republican, but is switching parties for this race.
She won’t have a clear ride to the Democratic nomination. Mission Hills businessman Randy Rolston also has filed for the nod in the August 2014 primary.
The winner of that primary takes on the often controversial Republican incumbent, Kris Kobach.
Schodorf served 12 years in the state Senate and chaired the chamber's Education Committee.
She was a GOP moderate, and conservatives successfully targeted her for defeat in the Republican primary in August 2012.
