Some of the U.S. Senate’s best-known GOP senators have signed up to boost the prospects of three-term Kansas Sen. Pat Roberts.
Politico reports that Arizona Sen. John McCain and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul both plan to barnstorm the state for Roberts.
Meantime, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who’s locked in his own tough re-election bid, and Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch, are leaning on big-time GOP donors to contribute to Roberts.
Roberts faces a stiff challenge from independent Greg Orman.
Two top Republican operatives from Washington are now aboard Roberts’ campaign team, replacing long-time friend and aide Leroy Towns.
“We’ve added to the campaign,” Roberts said. “We’re going to be much more aggressive. We’re done with the primary, and we’re getting ready for the general.”
