Jeff Roe, the 'bad boy' of Missouri politics, spreads his wings in Texas
We know him as the “bad boy” of Missouri politics.
Now Texas is getting a big dose of Jeff Roe, the GOP political consultant who began his career with now-Missouri Congressman Sam Graves.
These days, Roe is running a presidential campaign — that of Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, the conservative firebrand.
The Houston Chronicle profiled Roe the other day.
Some nuggets from the piece:
▪ Cruz himself was once the victim of a stinging Roe attack.
▪ Roe insists he’ll break rules and abandon the usual way of running a presidential campaign.
“There's a conventional wisdom that happens in politics," said Roe. "I don't accept it."
▪ One old rival calls Roe “poison to the human race.”
▪ As for his bulldog image, Roe embraces it. “It’s not unfair,” he said. “I don’t shirk from it.”
