It’s been more than three months since a drive-by shooting killed 10-year-old Machole Stewart.

And members of the Kansas City, Kan., girl’s family are frustrated that her killers are still at large.

On Friday, they gathered outside the family’s home at 15th Street and New Jersey Avenue, where Machole was killed Oct. 26, to call for justice.

“We want answers,” said Machole’s grandmother Krystal Stewart. “They took our 10-year-old baby.”

The fifth-grader was watching television when the occupants of a passing vehicle fired shots into the dwelling. A bullet hit her head.

“She tried to run to her bedroom to hide,” Stewart said Friday. “She panicked. Now she’s gone.”

A police spokesman said Friday that detectives are continuing to investigate and follow leads.

A $7,000 reward is being offered for information in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call the Tips Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
