Shawnee police seek car after woman is found slain in apartment

Shawnee police are asking for the public’s help in an investigation into the slaying of a 44-year-old woman whose body was found Monday in her apartment in the 7500 block of Flint Street.

Monica Lee lived in the Arbor Square apartments along 75th Street, between Nieman and Quivira roads.

Police are searching for the victim’s car, a silver 2004 four-door Honda Civic with Kansas plate 345EYD.

“We are very interested in knowing where that vehicle is,” Police Maj. Dan Tennis said.

Lee’s daughter on Monday asked police to check on her mother, whom she had been unable to reach. Officers went to the apartment about 4 p.m. and found Lee’s body inside.

Police said an autopsy is being conducted. They declined to comment on the manner of death but indicated it was an obvious homicide.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Metro Squad at 913-742-6090, Shawnee police at 913-631-2150 or the Tips Hotline at 816-474-8477.
