Even criminals can have really bad days.

Consider a 17-year-old who showed up at a Kansas City hospital Monday afternoon with two non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

He allegedly stole a car from a car lot on U.S. 40 about 1 p.m. Monday.

Less than 15 minutes later, he got into a two-vehicle wreck at 39th Street and Bruce R. Watkins Drive. The car’s engine caught fire.

He ran to a neighborhood in the 1600 block of East 38th Street and allegedly tried to break into a home.

The homeowner shot him, twice. He ran away.

Naturally, police officers searched hospitals for gunshot victims and figured out where he had gone.
