Kansas City police on Sunday identified the two people who were killed in a Northland murder-suicide that occurred on Friday afternoon.
Police said the murder victim was 69-year-old Dennis Honey. The gunman, who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, was 30-year-old James Jolly, who was Honey’s nephew.
Police said Jolly shot his mother and his uncle before 3 p.m. Friday as the two victims sat in a pickup truck outside a home in the 5100 block of Northwest Linden Road, in Kansas City, North.
Honey died and Jolly’s mother was wounded and taken to a hospital in critical condition. Police said she is now recovering.
As officers arrived at the scene, they saw Jolly go into the home and they heard a gunshot soon afterward. Police entered the home about 5 p.m. and discovered Jolly dead.
Police said Jolly lived with his mother and uncle in the residence.
