Man carjacked at gunpoint by masked robbers in Kansas City neighborhood
A 33-year-old man was carjacked at gunpoint early Saturday in the 8600 block of Thompson Avenue after he drove home a woman who was a new acquaintance.
The victim said he met the woman Friday at a Kansas City, Kan., casino. They exchanged phone numbers and reconnected later that evening.
Saturday morning, the man drove her to a residence on Thompson Avenue. As the two sat in a van and talked, several men wearing masks came out of a residence just after 5 a.m. One of them struck the victim in the head with a handgun.
The robbers took the victim’s wallet, his cellphone and the keys to his van. The victim said he heard a single gunshot as he ran from the scene.
He suffered a cut on his head from being hit with the handgun.
Police did not have a detailed description of the robbers.
