Would-be burglar pistol whipped, shot after altercation at Northland apartment
Police arrested a man early Friday who got shot after allegedly trying to break into a vehicle outside a Kansas City, North, apartment complex.
Officers responded to the residence in 500 block of Northwest 55th Terrace about 2:30 a.m. The car owner said he approached a man trying to break into his car. The man pulled out a knife and followed the car owner into his apartment.
Once inside, the car owner yelled for his roommate to grab a gun. The would-be burglar fought with the roommates and got pistol whipped. The fight spilled into the hallway where one of the roommates shot the man. He ran out of the building.
Police later arrested a man in the 5000 block of North Oak Trafficway. He was treated at a nearby hospital for a bullet wound, police said.
