Police arrest second suspect in fatal Kansas City shooting
Kansas City police have arrested a second suspect in a fatal shooting Monday at 18th Street and Topping Avenue.
The shooting happened about 2 p.m. Officers found the victim in the grass and pronounced him dead a short time later.
The victim’s name has not been released.
Shortly after the shooting, witnesses said a man with braided hair wearing a white T-shirt ran from the area. Soon after, police arrested a man matching that description.
About 9 p.m. Monday, investigators received a tip that led them to the 9400 block of Cleveland Avenue, where they arrested a second suspect.
There also were reports of people fleeing in a vehicle. A similar vehicle was involved in a street robbery a few minutes later, and officers are investigating whether the incidents were connected.
