Police investigate shooting near East 14th Street and Belmont Avenue

Kansas City police investigated a shooting Friday night that left one person with life-threatening injuries.

Officers learned of the shooting while making a traffic stop of a speeding vehicle near East 12th Street and Van Brunt Boulevard, according to police. They found that a passenger in the vehicle had been shot several times.

The injured man was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

Officers investigating the shooting found that it had occurred near East 14th Street and Belmont Avenue.

During the investigation, officers stopped a vehicle near East Seventh Street and Bennington Avenue and took a person into custody.
