Independence man is shot to death during fight
Independence police are investigating the death of a 26-year-old man shot early Thursday during a fight related to domestic violence.
The incident happened about 1:10 a.m. in a home in the 600 block of East Lexington Avenue, about three blocks east of Noland Road.
Police investigators believe Travis D. Manes of Independence “unlawfully entered” the home and got into a fight with two people he knew who were inside the home. Manes ended up dead.
“All three of them were known to one another,” said Officer John Syme, Independence police spokesman. Syme said he wasn’t sure exactly how Manes got inside the home.
Independence investigators were interviewing the two adults in the home Thursday morning. No one was in custody, Syme said.
