Two teens arrested in Lee’s Summit woman’s homicide
Two teens have been arrested in connection with the recent stabbing death of a Lee’s Summit woman, police announced Wednesday.
The juveniles, both from Lee’s Summit, are 13 and 14 years old. Charges are pending with the Jackson County Family Court, police said.
A Lee’s Summit police officer found the body of Tanya L. Chamberlain in a vehicle after trying to pull over the driver early Sunday morning on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. After the officer briefly chased two individuals who fled the vehicle, he returned to find Chamberlain’s body in a passenger seat.
Police said they were confident that “all parties involved are in custody” and thanked the “numerous community members who provided information that led to the quick apprehension of both suspects.”
Chamberlain, 43, lived in Lee’s Summit.
