Arrest made in Platte County shooting death

Platte County authorities made an arrest Thursday in the shooting death of a 27-year-old man whose body was found Saturday.

Relatives found Francisco Javier Vargas III inside his residence in the 6600 block of Twin Springs Road, just north of Parkville off Missouri 9. Vargas had been fatally shot, according to the Platte County sheriff’s office.

The arrest was made four days after the Metropolitan Area Major Case Squad was activated. Authorities have not said what led to the shooting.

No criminal charges have been filed.
