10-year-old boy accidentally shot at home in Lawrence
A 10-year-old boy accidentally shot in Lawrence early Friday night was expected to survive, according to authorities.
The boy was shot in the abdomen about 7 p.m. inside a home in southwest Lawrence, in the 6200 block of West 22nd Court, according to Sgt. Trent McKinley, a Lawrence police spokesman.
Detectives investigating the incident Friday said they thought the shooting was accidental. The boy was taken by ambulance to a Topeka trauma center and was prepared for surgery Friday night. Hospital staff told police that the injury did not appear life-threatening.
Detectives continued to investigate the circumstances of the incident Friday.
