Jackson County prosecutors have charged two brothers in the shooting death of Shawndray Key, 21, whose body was found April 9 inside a vehicle near 62nd Street and Agnes Avenue in southeast Kansas City.
Shyreif M. Carter, 18, and Teandre Carter, 20, both of Kansas City, are charged with second-degree murder, attempted robbery and two counts of armed criminal action.
According to court records, a witness told investigators that the Carters set out to rob someone they called “Drey.” They were driven to Agnes Avenue, where they got out and walked to a vehicle parked about a block away. The witness said he heard several gunshots.
Shyreif Carter later told police they were going to rob Key of drugs and a gun, according to court records.
