Police were watching (and sniffing) when he fired up a joint outside the KC bus station
A man who was carrying a gun when he was spotted smoking marijuana outside the bus station in Kansas City pleaded guilty to a federal gun charge Wednesday.
Caleb C. Sheridan pleaded guilty Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Kansas City to being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Sheridan, 23, was arrested last September outside the Greyhound bus station at 11th Street and Troost Avenue.
An undercover Kansas City police officer was at the station and saw Sheridan and another man smoking outside.
The officer said he could also smell burning marijuana, according to court documents filed in the case.
The officer then walked up to Sheridan and asked if he had any marijuana to sell.
Sheridan quoted him a price, and he was arrested with a 9mm handgun tucked in his waistband.
He has prior felony convictions for conspiracy and attempted aggravated robbery, according to prison records, and cannot legally possess a firearm.
