Missouri man kidnapped his boyfriend and stabbed him with meth needles, police say
A Missouri man has been accused of holding his boyfriend captive and jabbing him with hypodermic needles.
The needles had been used by Brian Smith, 38, on Friday to inject methamphetamine, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. After that, Smith became agitated and allegedly attacked his on-again, off-again boyfriend, who is 62.
Smith was charged in St. Louis County with kidnapping, resisting arrest and domestic assault. He allegedly held his boyfriend captive for four hours.
According to police:
Smith barricaded the man in his Maplewood, Mo., home using a couch and other objects, took the victim’s cellphone and hit him with a mirror and TV, in addition to stabbing him with the needles, the Post-Dispatch reported.
Responding officers with Maplewood police heard the victim’s pleas for help. The victim tossed keys outside and begged for them to intervene.
“A neighbor reported the man was hanging out of his bathroom window, yelling for help,” said Detective Sgt. John LeClerc.
Officers used a key and pushed past the barricade to enter the home. A skirmish ensued, and two officers were pricked by the needles that were on the floor near the struggle.
They eventually subdued Smith using a stun gun.
Smith’s blood was drawn to test for HIV and hepatitis, the Post-Dispatch reported. Preliminary tests came back negative, but the officers will continue to receive blood tests.
The officers are also taking medication as a precaution, according to KMOV.
Smith is being held on a $100,000 bond.
