With $1,900 in his pocket and the acquaintance of a new lady friend, a Kansas City man was on a roll when he left an area casino early Sunday.

But his luck ran out when a promised romantic encounter with his newfound companion left him with a gash on the head and his casino winnings gone.

The robbery and assault was reported to Kansas City police just after 3 a.m.

The victim told police he had met the woman at a casino and they left together “with the intention to be romantic,” according to police reports.

When they arrived in the 2700 block of Garfield Avenue, the victim got out of his car and immediately was set upon by two men. One struck him on the head with a gun before the men took his money and fled with the woman, who had set up the victim, according to police.

Wiser but poorer, the victim was taken by ambulance to a hospital. A detailed description of the suspects was not available.
