Gladstone police investigating after vehicle struck and killed pedestrian

A pedestrian was killed early Saturday morning in Gladstone after he was struck by a vehicle, police said.

Gladstone police were called to the scene just north of N.E. 73rd Terrace and Missouri 1 near Walmart at 2:50 a.m. Saturday in reference to a vehicle hitting a pedestrian.

Police said an SUV heading southbound on Missouri 1 hit a pedestrian and allegedly fled the scene of the crash.

The pedestrian died at the scene shortly following the crash. The pedestrian who died was described as a male in his mid-20s. Police did not release the victim’s name.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

By Saturday night, police said they were questioning at least one person believed to be involved in the crash.
