Man sought in hit-and-run collisions kills self during standoff with Kansas City police
A man who was involved in a standoff with Kansas City police Thursday night shot and killed himself, police said.
The incident occurred after police wanted to talk to the man about a series of hit-and-run collisions that began shortly after 5 p.m. near Gregory Boulevard and Harrison Street. License plate information led police to a house in the 7700 block of Madison Avenue.
The man spoke briefly to officers before closing the door and refusing to come out, leading to a standoff situation with police surrounding the home. Officers heard the sound of a gunshot. When they entered the house just before 10 p.m. they found the man dead.
