Exclusive Overland Park home is the subject of an extensive police search
The owner of a high-end jewelry and baby clothing business sat in jail Thursday as Overland Park police spent a second day searching her home in an exclusive neighborhood.
The 45-year-old woman, whom The Star is not naming because charges have not been filed, was arrested Wednesday and is being held on suspicion of felony theft, according to Johnson County jail records.
Overland Park police said the search of the home in the 13700 block of Horton Drive was part of a large-scale theft investigation by the department’s organized retail crime unit.
The arrested woman has prior convictions for theft and criminal deprivation of property, according to Johnson County court records. Both of those cases in 2007 and 2013 involved allegations of taking clothing from retail businesses.
She was placed on probation in both cases, according to court records.
The house being searched is appraised at more than $900,000, Johnson County appraiser’s office records show.
Her business has been registered with the Kansas secretary of state as a limited liability company since 2013. The Horton Drive address is listed as the company’s registered office.
According to its website, the company markets items online to a “hip, mod-mommy audience.”
The woman’s attorney, Scott Gyllenborg, said Thursday that he could not comment on the investigation.
