Murder charge filed in Olathe killing

Prosecutors charged a 36-year-old Olathe man Tuesday with killing a roommate Saturday night at an Olathe home.

They charged Cirilo Duran-Diaz in Johnson County District Court with second-degree murder in the shooting death of 26-year-old Jose Antonio Guzman.

Olathe police were called to the residence in the 200 block of South Walnut Street after someone reported finding Guzman not breathing. Police said he had sustained a single gunshot wound to the upper body.

Court records show that Duran-Diaz is being held in the Johnson County Jail on a bond of $1 million. His first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday.
