Leavenworth police report officer-involved shooting; one person killed

One person died after an officer-involved shooting Tuesday evening in the 1700 block of Rose Street, Leavenworth police said.

The officer was sent to the area around 8:15 p.m. to investigate a stolen vehicle, according to a police statement. Soon after, he reported the shooting.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation will conduct the investigation at the request of the Leavenworth Police Department.
