Leavenworth County deputies investigate body of woman found in field

Leavenworth County detectives have opened a homicide investigation into the death of a woman whose body was found Sunday in a rural field.

Authorities are withholding the woman’s name until her family has been told, said Maj. James Sherley of the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies found the body about 8:30 a.m. Sunday in a field near Kansas 5 on Marxen Road.

Sherley urged anyone with information about the case to call deputies at 913-682-5724 or leave a tip on the department’s website, www.lvsheriff.org.
