KC man charged in woman’s shooting

Jackson County prosecutors have accused a 26-year-old Kansas City man of shooting a woman in the head, causing life-threatening injuries.

They charged Aaron J. Easley of Kansas City with assault and armed criminal action.

Police were called to the scene in the 10400 block of East 39th Street just after 5 a.m. Tuesday.

According to court records, Easley and the victim had argued before going into a bedroom, where the arguing continued for about 20 minutes. Witnesses said they heard a gun slide “rack” several times. They said Easley often took out his gun when he and the victim argued. A witness later told investigators she heard the victim shout, “Do it then. Do it then.”

Moments later, the witness heard one gunshot.

When officers arrived, Easley was crying and covered in blood. He pleaded that he and his “baby’’ needed help.
