A Kansas City man has been charged with shooting another man in the face and stealing a $1,600 pair of Yeezy shoes in a Waldo area home invasion.

Jackson County prosecutors charged Mustafa R. Ali, 20, with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault, first-degree burglary and two counts of armed criminal action.

The crime occurred on Dec. 5 inside a residence near 74th Terrace and Oak Street.

The 23-year-old victim told police that he was playing a video game when he was surprised by two people inside his house. One of the intruders began taking the victim’s property.

The victim said he tackled the intruder, who pulled out a gun and pistol-whipped him and shot him in the face. The victim said he pretended to be dead until the intruders left.

He later determined that the expensive shoes and a $400 hooded sweatshirt had been taken.

Bond for Ali was set at $200,000.
