Kansas City police identify 20-year-old shot and killed at Crossroads intersection

Authorities have identified a 20-year-old killed early Sunday when gunmen fired several bullets into a car stopped at Southwest Boulevard and Broadway as Stephon L. Cunningham of Kansas City.

The triple shooting occurred just after 2 a.m. as the victims were northbound on Broadway in the Crossroads Arts District. Two vehicles pulled alongside their vehicle, with one on each side, and gunmen riding in them fired into the victim’s vehicle.

Cunningham died in surgery. A second victim is in serious condition. A third had minor injuries.

Police did not have detailed descriptions of the suspects. No arrests had been made Monday, police said.

Cunningham was paroled two months ago after a 2011 assault conviction. He originally drew probation but was sent to prison after violating his probation.
