Authorities identify Kansas City, Kan., carjacking suspect killed by police
Authorities on Monday identified the man shot and killed by police last week after he carjacked a pest control truck.
Andres D. Lara-Rodriguez, 21, of Kansas City, Kan., died after the 30-minute chase that followed, according to police.
Authorities pursued the stolen truck from Kansas into Missouri and then back into Kansas after the 9:30 a.m. carjacking. The suspect then tried to cut behind a church near 12th Street and Ruby Avenue, but crashed into a fence. After the driver “presented a gun,” according to police, four officers — a Kansas trooper and three Kansas City police officers — fired, fatally injuring him.
The incident remains under investigation.
