Driver pronounced dead after early morning crash in Cass County
A 23-year-old man from Butler, Mo. died early Nov. 19 following a one-vehicle crash on I-49 in Cass County.
The deceased driver was identified as Alexander M. Jenkins, according to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Jenkins, who was driving a 2004 Jeep, was pronounced dead at the scene just after 2:40 a.m. Nov. 19.
Authorities said the Jeep was heading southbound on I-49 near mile marker 160.8 when it went off the left side of the roadway, struck the end of a guardrail, and overturned. The report said Jenkins, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the Jeep into the southbound lane of traffic.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol was investigating the cause of the crash.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Peculiar Police Department, and Harrisonville Police Department assisted at the scene.
