KC Zoo announces chimp pregnancy
An ultrasound test confirms that a chimpanzee at the Kansas City Zoo is pregnant.
The zoo announced Friday that the 40-year-old chimp, named Rachel, is an experienced mother of 18-year-old twins. The new baby is due in March.
The zoo said Rachel has been cooperative during medical checkups, ultrasounds and urine testing. The latest ultrasound can be viewed here.
A chimp born at the zoo in October died unexpectedly in November. The zoo has 12 chimpanzees.
