Firefighters prevent garage fire from spreading to Overland Park house
Firefighters on Monday afternoon quickly knocked down a garage fire that was threatening to spread to an Overland Park house.
The fire, reported shortly before 3 p.m., destroyed the detached garage in the 7600 block of Eby Lane.
The first arriving firefighters reported the garage was fully engulfed in flames and the fire was threatening to spread to the house.
While a crew of firefighters fought the blaze, another crew searched the home to make sure everyone was out safely.
The fire was quickly extinguished, and it had been stopped before it spread to the house. The fire, however, damaged the house’s siding.
The garage was a total loss. The only injury was to a firefighter, who was treated for minor heat exposure.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
