Building on Liberty Square collapses; no injuries reported

Fire and police crews are at the scene of a partial collapse of a building on the historic square in Liberty.

The call came in just after 9 a.m. that a larger portion of the Bedinger Building at 1 North Water Street had collapsed. No one was injured as hundreds of bricks spewed into the street. Emergency crews were working to shore up the structure and assess the damage.

The building was under renovation. A furniture store last occupied the space.

Police closed off streets surrounding the scene. The building is located across the street from the Clay County Courthouse and Liberty City Hall.
