Kansas City police identify bicyclist killed in collision with car

Police have identified a bicyclist struck by a car and killed Sunday in Kansas City as Anthony P. Saluto, 31.

The Kansas City man was killed about 6 p.m. Sunday near Independence and Lydia avenues.

Police said Saluto was westbound on Independence when an eastbound Lexus swerved into the westbound lanes and struck him. Police do not know why the car swerved.

Saluto died at the scene. The driver of the Lexus stopped his car about a block away.

The crash remains under investigation.
