Hearing postponed on Fellowship of the Martyrs’ plan to develop land in Clay County
A hearing scheduled for Tuesday night at the Clay County Planning & Zoning Commission to address a request by the fringe religious group Fellowship of the Martyrs was postponed until Jan. 5.
The Liberty-based group wants to develop rural land near Excelsior Springs for a “tiny house” village and to establish a church in a limestone mine.
Neighbors object to the plan, saying the group headed by controversial preacher Doug Perry has not met zoning requirements.
Opponents also voiced worry about Perry’s followers.
