Kansas City’s City Hall and Union Station bathed in French colors after Paris attacks
City officials decided Saturday to bathe Kansas City landmarks in the colors of the French flag, following an act of solidarity that swept around the globe after the bloody terror attacks in Paris.
City officials said Saturday afternoon that both Union Station and City Hall would take on the blue, white and red that shone on the Sydney Opera House and countless other iconic landmarks around the world.
“There are no words that can describe the deep sympathy we have for the families in Paris,” Kansas City Councilman Scott Taylor said in a news release. “It is important for us to show solidarity with Paris.”
A spokeswoman for Union Station said a technician headed out to grand building late Saturday afternoon for a job that would take a few hours. The landmark has lately been bathed in Kansas City Royals blue.
The Kansas City Marriott Downtown also lit up its facade in the French tricolors.
