Michael Brown, Sr., released a video message Thursday afternoon urging calm ahead of the grand jury decision in Ferguson and he stressed the need for positive change for the St. Louis region.

For much of the past three months, Ferguson, Mo. residents have braced for the decision where jury members are considering evidence in the case of police officer Darren Wilson, who in August shot and killed Michael Brown’s son.

In a video posted on the STLForward.com channel, Brown Sr. says he and his family are hurting, and the whole region is hurting. He says, “I thank you for lifting your voices to end racial profiling and police intimidation. But hurting others or destroying property is not the answer.”

STLForward is described as an informational portal designed by a group of St. Louis-area volunteers focused on creating enhanced levels of transparency to help the region move forward through the creation of a new standard of inclusion for all residents.
