More bones turn up where fisherman found a human foot in KCK
Kansas City, Kan., police and members of the Missouri Search and Rescue team searched an area near the Kansas River on Sunday after a fisherman found human remains there a day before.
A fisherman made the initial discovery on Saturday evening. The fisherman called police after finding the skeletal remains of a foot inside a shoe near 42nd Street and Speaker Road. A coroner confirmed the remains were human. Police searched the area and found more bones.
Shortly before 8 a.m. Sunday, police along with Missouri Search and Rescue personnel returned to the area, which is near Interstate 635 and Speaker Road. They found several more bones in the same area.
Kansas City, Kan., Police Chief Terry Zeigler said on Twitter at about 4:15 p.m. that they had collected as much of the human remains as possible. Police planned to send the remains to a pathologist for analysis.
