Driver killed when cement truck tumbles off bridge near Smithville
A 37-year-old Platte City man was killed Thursday morning when the concrete-mixing truck he was driving plummeted off a bridge near Smithville, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The accident happened around 10:30 a.m. on Missouri Route W, about two miles east of U.S. 169. The driver, identified as Mark A. Yanits, was traveling east when the right tire blew.
