Juvenile threatened by peers to be bound, left to die in remote area, police say
A juvenile reported being lured into a remote area of Missouri, hit on the head with a large rock and threatened to be tied up, stabbed and left to die by two other juveniles, according to law enforcement.
None of the juveniles has been named. The incident allegedly occurred Friday night in rural Livingston County.
The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office has opened an assault and attempted murder investigation.
Livingston Sheriff Steve Cox wrote on the department’s website that the juvenile “was able to avoid being fully restrained and eventually secured his/her freedom upon agreeing to kill a different person the suspect(s) allegedly dislike.”
The victim also reported being choked multiple times and fending off the attackers’ attempts to bind him or her with rope and duct tape.
The victim was treated at a hospital, and the two juvenile suspects were detained.
“Fortunately this did not turn out any worse but it is still a very scary situation,” Cox wrote. “Always talk with your children and know what is going on in their life and frequently discuss safety.”
Cox added that the juvenile suspects could be charged as adults.
