One person killed in wreck on I-70 in Independence
One person was killed Tuesday in a two-vehicle wreck on Interstate 70 in Independence, according to police.
The wreck occurred shortly after 1:15 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-70 west of Noland Road, when a Mercedes and a Toyota collided.
The Mercedes came to a controlled stop on the shoulder, according to police. The Toyota slid off the road and overturned.
The driver of the Toyota was ejected from the vehicle. The driver was taken to a hospital and later died.
Police said the driver’s name will be released after family members have been notified.
No injuries were reported among the occupants of the Mercedes.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, police said.
