One person killed in car fire in Northeast Kansas City

Kansas City police are investigating an early morning car fire that killed one person and injured two others.

The fire occurred at about 3 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Scarritt Avenue and N. Hardesty Avenue in Northeast Kansas City. One person died at the scene and two were taken to an area hospital, said communications supervisor Dawn Deterding.

Deterding said one of the people taken to the hospital had life-threating injuries and the other had non life-threatening injuries. Police are still investigating the cause of the fire.
