The Kansas Highway Patrol was investigating the fatal crash Tuesday of a small plane near Pleasanton, Kan., in Linn County.
The patrol confirmed that two people are dead, but further details were not immediately available.
The National Transportation Safety Board, which also is investigating, tweeted that the craft was a Zodiac CH601XL, which is a small kit plane.
Pleasanton is on U.S. 69, about 60 miles south of Kansas City.
