One dies, one injured in KCK accident

One person was killed and one person was injured Sunday morning in an accident in the 300 block of James Street in Kansas City, Kan.

Police officers were in the area at about 7:15 a.m. following up on possible copper thefts. While there, officers saw a vehicle under the James Street Bridge that had been in an accident.

Officers found two black males in the vehicle. One was dead. The other was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Police said the preliminary investigation indicated the vehicle was traveling westbound on James Street, lost control and went over the side of the bridge.

The name of the victim has not been released pending notification of relatives.
