Kansas City attorney appointed chairman of Missouri Gaming Commission
Gov. Jay Nixon has appointed Kansas City attorney Herb Kohn to be chairman of the Missouri Gaming Commission.
The commission oversees the state’s riverboat gaming industry. The nomination is subject to consideration by the Missouri Senate when it convenes next year.
Kohn would replace Kansas City attorney Leland Shurin, who resigned from the commission to join the Kansas City Board of Police Commissioners.
Kohn is a well-known figure in Kansas City’s political and legal circles. He was a key adviser to former Mayor Kay Barnes and is active with several arts-related groups. He’s a member of the Civic Council.
His term ends in April 2017.
