The tea party candidate challenging U.S. Sen. Pat Roberts in Kansas' Republican primary is demanding that Roberts be kept off the ballot over questions about where he truly lives.
Leawood radiologist Milton Wolf said Friday that Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach should reject any filing by Roberts. The three-term senator planned to file later Friday for a spot on the Aug. 5 primary ballot.
Roberts owns a home in Alexandria, Virginia, and rents a room and bathroom from longtime supporters in Dodge City for $300 a month. He and his wife also own a duplex unit in Dodge City but rent it.
Roberts spokesman Leroy Towns said Roberts is a lifelong Kansas resident who votes and pays taxes in the state.
Kobach was not immediately available for comment.
